27 yaşındaki guard, geçen sezon Boston ve Chicago ile 55 maçta 14.3 sayı, 2.5 ribaund ve 2.4 asist ortalaması yakaladı. Kariyerine Portland’da başlayan Simons, 2018 NBA Draftı’nda 24. sıradan seçilerek yedi sezon boyunca ortalama 15.0 sayı ve 3.0 asistle oynadı.
